I was cleaning my Frigidaire Electrolux when I happened to notice for the first time, that the light bulbs are melting the plastic on the inside of the fridge. There is also a bad connection with the other light bulbs inside the fridge.

I have been looking all over the internet for similar problems and there are a lot of them. I am going to contact Frigidaire and get the issue fixed at no cost. You would think because of the amount of complaints for this issue that Frigidaire would recall these over priced refrigerators.

I will never buy another Frigidaire product.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

All the led lights in our fridgidare side by side went out just one month past warranty. Purchased two expensive new led lights which were horrible to replace.

They didnโ€™t light what a terrible system.

So now we have to use a flashlight. We will never buy another fridgidare appliance and tell everyone we can about this terrible appliance.

I came to see If anyone else had the issue about the bulb burning the roof of the refrigerator and to my dismay, found several! I opened my refrigerator to get milk and the bulb was out, so I reached up to unscrew it so I can replace it and imagine my shock and dismay to find that the bulb had burned a nice hole / chunk of the roof of my refrigerator.

Frigidaire, how can you not recall these??? Now I am fearing going to sleep at night and worrying about a fire!

I just defrosted my Frigidaire and left the door open (and the light on as a result). The light melted the light bulb receptacle.

I was gone from the house for hours - lucky no fire. Now have no working light in the fridge.

Having the same problem with my refrigerator. I called customer service and they said that they know nothing about this issue and sent me to the recall department that said the same thing.

It seems extremely unlikely from all these posts that they know nothing about this issue.

I don't know how it didn't catch on fire from the burnt hole inside my fridge. Has anyone received any help from Frigidaire in regards to this issue?

Exact same thing with our fridge. Didn't notice it until the bulb went out.

Melted plastic and burn hole into the insulation. We inherited the appliances from previous owner about 18 months ago. I think it is at least 10 years old.

Another thing I have noticed is a strong fruit smell if the door has been open for more than 5 minutes. Temperature has not seemed to affect food inside.

I too experienced the same thing...opened my fridge to warm air and 1 bulb burnt out and other bulb blaring hot both with gappjng holes in the plastic in the fridge ceiling. Out of warranty....nothing they can do! Thank God my house didn't burn down.

I just called this morning and asked to speak to a supervisor, which only offered a 30% and numbers to service centers in my area. The diagnosis visit ALONE is close to $100!!!

Why should WE pay for a defect that apparently keeps happening with the production of these refrigerators?!!

Itโ€™s very obvious that the light bulb is either too close to the top of the fridge or the lightbulb is too hot. They need to fix this!

We have had the same problem with the light burn *** into the plastic to where it have short it out and had to buy another one, you would think there should be a recall on them.

The lifht bulbs on frigidaire website state the replacement bulbs for all their appliances are 20 watts. Why would they sell the refrigerator with 40 watt bulbs and no proper shield cover housing?

I too have cracks and melting spots on the ceiling directly above the bulbs. When I called I was told they never heard of burns or melting, just cracks

Guest

Mine too has a burn hole in the top. Iโ€™ve replaced the bulb prob 6x in 4 years. First time it was stuck to the roof of the frige

Guest

had the same problem, Frigidaire took no responsibility since I've had fridge for too long.

My fix included replacing light bulb with a LED-type bulb that produces no heat, in addition, I used sugru moldable glue (putty) to patch up the hole. the material is white like the fridge inside surface, and considering it doesn't look that great since I am no expert, it does the job. No risk for a fire or anything,

main recommendation for everyone is to change your bulb for a LED bulb that produces no heat.

What LED light bulb did you replace it with? Thanks

Guest

This just happened yesterday while cleaning refrigerator. Hole in the cabinet now! Going to try Frigidaire....this is a major fire hazard!

Guest

How do you fix the holes ? Mine is the same way and they will do nothing!

Guest

Happened to me too! I didn't notice it until my fridge light burned out. There's a huge black hole above the lightbulb and the bulb itself is black as well.

Guest

Same thing happened to me! Any results from them?
